Method and device for laser range-finding, in particular for distant targets

The method involves emitting, in acquisition phase, a frequency ramp with long period and a low slope ramp, to obtain an approximate value of distance of a target. A series of frequency ramps with small period equal to a quotient of the division of a reflection time of a wave emitted towards the target and a high slope ramp are emitted, in a tracking phase, to obtain a value of the target distance. An independent claim is also included for a device for implementing a laser ranging method.
