PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an inorganic-organic composite thermoplastic material excellent in optical physical properties without presence of a minute foam and to provide an optical element prepared by using the inorganic-organic composite thermoplastic material and excellent in optical physical properties and transparency and excellent in heat stability.;SOLUTION: The method for producing the inorganic-organic composite thermoplastic material containing inorganic microparticles in a thermoplastic resin comprises a step 1 of producing a master batch in which slurry containing inorganic microparticles is mixed with a first thermoplastic resin, a step 2 of removing a solvent from the master batch and a step 3 of melting and mixing the master batch with a second thermoplastic resin. In the production method, at least the step 2 and the step 3 are continuously carried out under drying atmosphere not lower than dissociation temperature of crystal water of the inorganic microparticles.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
