PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-soluble chimeric protein.;SOLUTION: The chimeric protein comprises a heme domain originated from a mammalian or plant cytochrome P450 and a scaffold domain generally comprising an electron transfer domain originated from P450BM3 of Bacillus megaterium. The protein does not include the membrane-binding portion of the wild type mammalian or plant P450, and is hence water-soluble, The protein is active on substrates for the wild type mammalian or plant P450 and electrons are transferred to electron transfer portions, e.g., a part of the scaffold domain such as FAD, FMN or the like. The protein is useful for analyzing the substrate specificity of the heme domain or detecting substrates which are objects to be analyzed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
