PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inter-road/vehicle communication system, a lane number recognition method for the same, and a light beacon for use therein, capable of recognizing a lane on which a vehicle is running with high accuracy.;SOLUTION: The inter-road/vehicle communication system includes an onboard unit 2 of a vehicle C running on a road R, a light beacon 4 having beacon heads 8 respectively corresponding to lanes R1-R4 on the road R, and a vehicle sensor 5 for transmitting a vehicle sense signal to the light beacon 4 according to the sensing of the vehicle C in a sensing area K separately provided to each lane corresponding to each beacon head 8. Further, the light beacon 4 includes a sensed lane number acquisition section for acquiring a sensed lane number, which is the lane number on which the vehicle C is sensed on the basis of the above vehicle sensing signal. When uplink information including an identical vehicle ID is received by the beacon heads 8, the light beacon 4 also includes a selection section for selecting an identical lane number to the sensed lane number from among the lane numbers corresponding to the beacon heads 8 having received the uplink information, and for making the above selected lane number correspond to the above vehicle ID.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
