PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new gene controlling the seed dormancy of a plant, to provide a method for controlling the seed dormancy of the plant utilizing the gene and to provide a method for detecting the ear germination resistance of a test plant.;SOLUTION: The isolation and identification of a base sequence of Sdr4 which is an ear germination-resistant gene are initially succeeded by utilizing a map base cloning method. Furthermore, it is confirmed that even the Sdr4 of Nihonbare has a germination inhibitory ability by a complementarity test, a functional analysis with a knockdown lineage and isolation of a mutant. As a result of search on the gene of Arabidopsis thaliana (L.) Heynh. having high homology with the rice plant Sdr4 gene, it is found out that AtSdr4L1 having the highest homology has functions to control the germination.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
