PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically judge a power line communication apparatus directly under a gateway from among a plurality of power line communication apparatuses constituting a LAN.;SOLUTION: Based on a fact that the data requesting response are transmitted from the network of PLC to the home gateway side, and the response data are transmitted from the home gateway side to the network of PLC, when one PLC modem directly under a home gateway 7 is set as a master unit and other PLC modems are set as slave units out of a plurality of PLC modems constituting a network of power line communication, a determination is made that a PLC modem A that receives the response data from a port for PLC is the master unit, and a PLC modem B that receives the response data from other port is a slave unit.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
