PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a light scattering element which scatters incident coherent light to change a speckle pattern generated with the scattered coherent light is made large in size on the whole since a light scattering unit and a vibration imparting unit are separated.;SOLUTION: The light scattering element 1 includes piezoelectrics 2, electrodes 3a and 3b which input an alternating voltage to cause the piezoelectrics 2 to vibrate, and a light scattering surface 4 which is formed on or nearby a surface of the piezoelectrics 2 to scatter the incident coherent light, wherein the speckle pattern formed with the scattered coherent light is made variable by inserting the piezoelectrics 2 into the optical path of the coherent light and vibrating the piezoelectrics 2.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
