PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capillary high-pressure mercury lamp (hereinafter, this is referred as "lamp") in which a stable output can be obtained securely over a long time, and to provide a light irradiation device in which a prescribed light irradiation treatment can be carried out surely and in which even in the case of exchanging the lamp, a stable performance can be obtained surely.;SOLUTION: In the lamp, inside a rod like discharge tube of which both ends are sealed and of which the inner diameter is constant toward the axial direction, a pair of electrodes are opposingly arranged and mercury is enclosed, the electrodes have the rod shape, and a weir part protruding in the diameter direction regulating a mercury reservoir formed at the both end parts inside a discharge tube is formed.
