PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide soil for raising underwater animals and plants, and to provide soil for plant cultivation, free from contaminating existing ground and the global environment. PSOLUTION: The soil for raising underwater animals and plants is obtained by subjecting plant pieces to pressure hydrothermal treatment to bring cellulose fiber contained in the plant pieces to low molecule, producing a resin material from which liquid ingredient produced in the treatment is separated and removed, and granulating the resin material to a size of about 1-10 mm diameter. The soil for plant cultivation is obtained by subjecting plant pieces to pressure hydrothermal treatment to bring cellulose fiber contained in the plant pieces to low molecule, producing a resin material from which liquid ingredient produced in the treatment is separated and removed, and granulating the resin material to a size of about 1-10 mm diameter.
