PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nondestructive inspection method capable of distinguishing damages of components, and a device therefor.;SOLUTION: A method for generating heat by vibrating a component and distinguishing damages of a component is provided. Heat is generated in all damages in a component. The temperature of the surface of a component is measured by an imaging device such as an infrared camera. The thermal source and the heat intensity identified by a thermal image are distinguished by using mathematical representation of thermal physics such as heat conduction equations employing the boundary element method or the finite element method. Damage characteristics of the component is determined by the use of the thermal source and the heat intensity. A processor communicates with the imaging device to receive the surface temperature. The processor includes a computer memory having component characteristics and mathematical equations. The processor determines the damage characteristics of the component by using the surface temperature measured, thermal flux estimated or measured, namely a heat transfer coefficient, component characteristics, and mathematical equations.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
