PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Al-Zn-Mg based weldable high strength aluminum material for forging having excellent stress corrosion cracking resistance, and, particularly, even in a state after welding, having excellent stress corrosion cracking resistance.;SOLUTION: The aluminum alloy for forging has a composition comprising3.9 to 5.0% Zn and 0.1 to 1.0% Mg in such a manner that the total content of Zn+Mg is controlled to ≤6.0%, further comprising 0.02 to 0.20% Cu, further comprising one or more kinds selected from 0.20 to 0.70% Mn, 0.10 to 0.30% Cr, 0.05 to 0.30% Zr and 0.01 to 0.10% V in such a manner that the total content of Mn, Cr, Zr and V is controlled to ≥0.25%, and further comprising one or more kinds selected from 0.01 to 0.20% Ti, 0.001 to 0.05% B and 0.01 to 0.5% C, and the balance substantially Al.
