PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium alloy for plastic working which can be easily obtained by casting and has excellent plastic deformability, mechanical strength and creep resistance and also to provide a plastically worked member of the magnesium alloy.;SOLUTION: The magnesium alloy for plastic working is the magnesium alloy obtained by casting a molten metal consisting of magnesium, aluminum and a metallic element forming an intermetallic compound with aluminum by eutectic reaction in the course of solidification, wherein total aluminum content in the magnesium alloy is 5 to 10 wt.%, aluminum concentration in a magnesium phase in the metallic structure of the magnesium alloy is ≤4.5 mass% and the remaining aluminum exists in the form of an intermetallic compound, and the amount of the metallic element forming the intermetallic compound with aluminum by eutectic reaction in the course of solidification is a value by which the aluminum concentration in the magnesium phase in the metallic structure of the magnesium alloy can be reduced.
