PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stem cell that can be differentiated into hepatic cells; to provide a stem cell that can be differentiated into a plurality of internal organs including liver; and further to provide stem cells that can be differentiated into hepatic cells and that also can be prepared from adult body. PSOLUTION: The stem cell is derived from the epithelium of salivary duct and can be differentiated into -fetoprotein positive cell, albumin positive cell, amylase positive cell, and glucagon positive cell and insulin positive cell by cultivation ex vivo, thereby the stem cell that can be differentiated into hepatic cells has been provided for the first time. Further, the stem cell can be differentiated into not only liver but also a plurality of internal organs such as pancreas or salivary glands. In addition, the stem cell also can be prepared from adult body. The preparation of the cells from salivary gland can decrease the risk and the load on the patients in comparison with the case that the cells are prepared from the internal organs inside the abdominal or chest region in the patients.
