PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellently safe and daily generally usable pharmaceutical and nutritional composition capable of increasing the total IgA level and/or antigen-specific IgA antibody titer in mother's milk, thereby enhancing phylactic effects in digestive tracts and carrying out prophylaxis of allergy development in a neonate.;SOLUTION: The IgA production enhancer comprises a fructooligosaccharide represented by general formula (I): Glucosyl(1→2)(fructosyl)_nβ(2→1)fructose (I) (wherein, n is 1-3) as an active ingredient. The IgA production enhancer as the nutritional composition for pregnant and nursing mothers or lactating women can be formulated in, e.g. milk powder for the pregnant and nursing mothers or lactating women or foods for the pregnant and nursing mothers or lactating women for utilization and can further be utilized as feeds for animals of the perinatal period.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
