PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an FeGaAl based alloy having high magnetostriction and having excellent mechanical strength, and to provide a magnetostriction type torque sensor using the same.;SOLUTION: The FeGaAl based alloy has a composition expressed by (Fe(100-x-y)-Gax-Aly)100-z-Cz (1)(x denotes 12 to 14, y denotes 4 to 7, and z denotes 1 to 2). Alternatively, the alloy may have a composition expressed by (Fe(100-x-y)-Gax-Aly)100-z-Bz (2) (x is 12 to 14, y is 4 to 7, and z is 1 to 2). The alloy is obtained by being subjected to heat treatment and being subjected to the control of crystallization orientation and precipitates, and exhibits a bulk state.
