PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal-spraying powder suitable for depositing a sprayed coating having the excellent plasma-erosion resistance, and a method for depositing the sprayed coating. PSOLUTION: The thermal-spraying powder contains particles comprising oxides of rare earth elements of any one of the atomic numbers 39, 59-70. The collapse strength of the particles in the thermal-spraying powder is 80 MPa, and the ratio of the bulk density to the true specific gravity of the thermal-spraying powder is 0.15. The particles in the thermal-spraying powder are preferably granulated and sintered ones, and the average grain diameter of the primary particles constituting the granulated and sintered particles is preferably 6 m.
