PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for differentiating, in a subject suffering from an acute shortness of breath (dyspnea), among (i) a pulmonary disease, (ii) a cardiovascular complication, (iii) a cardiovascular complication accompanied by a pulmonary disease, and (iv) acute dyspnea without cardiovascular or pulmonary causes.;SOLUTION: The method comprises: the step for measuring the amount of SP-B in a sample of a subject (a); the step for measuring the amount of a natriuretic peptide in a sample of the subject (b); the step for differentiating among (i) a pulmonary disease and the step for comparing the amounts measured in (a) and (b) with a reference amount (c), (ii) a cardiovascular complication, (iii) a cardiovascular complication accompanied by a pulmonary disease, and (iv) acute dyspnea without cardiovascular or pulmonary causes by comparing the amounts measured in (a) and (b) with reference amounts.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
