QUARTZ GLASS BODY, AND METHOD AND CASTING MOLD FOR MANUFACTURING QUARTZ GLASS BODY

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved quartz glass body, and to provide a method, a casting mold and an apparatus for manufacturing the quartz glass which facilitates a reliable supply and simple removal from the mold and thus provide a reliable manufacturing process for a quartz glass container or crucible. PSOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a quartz glass body comprises the steps of: (a) feeding a quartz glass-water mixture into a casting mold, which comprises an outer part and an inner part, the inner part having shaping surfaces for contacting the quartz glass-water mixture; (b) drying the quartz glass-water mixture in the casting mold; (c) during the drying step (b), applying an overpressure to the quartz glass-water mixture; and (d) removing a resulting green glass body from the casting mold.
