MUTATION OF MALE STERILITY-ASSOCIATED PROTAMINE-2 GENE, AND METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING MALE STERILITY

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mutated protamine-2 gene as a causing gene of male sterility, a protein expressed by the gene and a method for diagnosing the male sterility. PSOLUTION: This mutated protamine-2 gene is a polynucleotide complemental to an mRNA transcribed from the male sterility-associated protamine-2 gene and is the polynucleotide in which a specific (c) is replaced by (t), or its complemental sequence in the specific DNA sequence. A polypeptide which is the expression product of the above polynucleotide, consists of a specific amino acid sequence. An oligopeptide which is a part of the above polypeptide, consists of an amino acid sequence of 5 to 30 continuous amino acid sequence. The method for diagnosing the male sterility is provided by detecting whether the above polynucleotide is present or not in chromosomal DNAs isolated from a subject. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
