PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct a four-dimensional model of an alveolus that faithfully reproduces changes in the shape of an alveolus and an alveolar tip.;SOLUTION: This method for constructing a four-dimensional model of an alveolus is based on the assumption that an alveolus 2 varies in volume as the annulus fibrosus of the alveolar tip expands and the junction angle of the alveolar wall varies, so that when the volume of the alveolus 2 has minimum volume, the alveolar tip 3 closes, and so that a stable state is produced by the surface tension dependency of a lung surfactant.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
