PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonionic substituted phenylethynylcopper complex exhibiting light emission in a blue region useful as a light-emitting material, etc., for an organic electroluminescent device and having a high melting point and to provide the organic electroluminescent device comprising the same.;SOLUTION: The substituted phenylethynylcopper-nitrogen-containing heterocyclic carbene complex is represented by general formula (1) (wherein, n represents an integer of 1-3; L represents a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic carbene ligand; and X represents an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an aryl group, an aralkyl group, a heterocyclic group, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, an alkylmercapto group, an arylmercapto group or an amino group having a substituent, with the proviso that one or a plurality of hydrogen atoms on the carbon atom of X may be substituted with a halogen atom, an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an aryl group, an aralkyl group, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, an alkylmercapto group, an arylmercapto group or an amino group having a substituent).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
