PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately correct fuel injection quantity with corresponding to temperature of a fuel injection valve and accurately estimate temperature of the fuel injection valve in a common rail type internal combustion engine. PSOLUTION: Fuel temperature, cooling water temperature, rail pressure, internal combustion engine speed, and fuel injection quantity Qinj are used in calculation of estimated temperature THFi of the fuel injection valve by a multiple regression formula. Rail pressure and fuel injection quantity Qinj affects dynamic leak quantity intensely generating heat at a time of discharge. Accurate estimated temperature THFi can be provided by including parameter of internal combustion engine speed, fuel temperature and cooling water temperature affecting trend of heat quantity of the fuel injection valve as factors affecting fuel injection quantity accuracy, and fuel injection quantity can be accurately corrected by temperature when fuel injection quantity Qinj is determined by fuel injection quantity calculation process.
