PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hand shake quantity detecting device capable of detecting a hand shake quantity with high throughput and high precision, a hand shake correcting device, an imaging device, and a hand shake quantity detecting method. PSOLUTION: A data thinning-out unit 31 generates a thinned-out image from raw data of a standard image and a reference image, and a block extracting unit 33 extracts a search block and a template block to obtain a residue. A luminance difference comparing unit 34 calculates the difference between a maximum and a minimum of a luminance value of each block to exclude a block whose difference is smaller than a threshold from from objects of residue acquisition. A residue acquiring unit 35 acquires residues from blocks which are not excluded, and a block selecting unit 36 extracts a predetermined number of blocks having small residues. Then the residue acquiring unit 35 acquires residues again based upon the data which are not thinned out, and a hand shake quantity acquiring unit 37 obtains a motion vector whose residue is minimum to determine, as a hand shake quantity, a vector consisting of components in predetermined places in the decreasing order of components (x) and (y) of a predetermined number of motion vectors.
