BUS SERVICE INFORMATION PROVISION SYSTEM AND METHOD USING USER TERMINAL WITH BUILT-IN GPS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit information of the nearest bus stop and bus arrival times to a bus user's terminal with a built-in GPS function in an area in which a plurality of bus companies provide bus services.;SOLUTION: An information center connected to a communication network receives and manages bus stop location information to be provided from a plurality of bus companies and current position information of busses in operation to be provided continually. A user's portable terminal with a built-in GPS function transmits terminal position information acquired from a plurality of GPS satellites and a destination of a user to the center. The center retrieves the bus stop location information on the basis of the information from the terminal to specify the bus stop of the nearest boarding point, retrieves the current position information of the bus in operation to specify an available bus heading to the bus stop at the boarding point, calculates estimated time at which the available bus will arrive or the bus stop at the boarding point or estimated required time until the bus arrival thereat, and returns location information on a map of the bust spot at the boarding point and the calculated estimated time information to the user's terminal.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
