PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent illegal alteration of a fiscal memory.;SOLUTION: The fiscal unit 10 comprises a fiscal memory 21; a main CPU 12 which converts receiving data from a host 200 to conversion data; a logic circuit 23 which restores conversion data input from the main CPU 12 to original data and outputs it to the fiscal memory 21; and an EPROM 33 which stores two or more conversion patterns used for the conversion processing in the main CPU 12. The main CPU 12 changes the conversion pattern to be applied from the two or more conversion patterns stored in the EPROM 33 at a predetermined time measured by an RTC (real time clock) 35 or at predetermined time intervals, outputs a specification code for specifying the conversion pattern to the logic circuit 23.
