PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency of a design operation by automatically and accurately selecting the optimal asset in software development.;SOLUTION: This asset selection device is configured to input/store an asset characteristic vector expressing the characteristics of asset, a requirement characteristic vector expressing the characteristics of the requirements of this system, a weighted vector for weighting the significant components of the characteristic vector in the case of selecting asset, and a characteristic region vector expressing the characteristic region of asset, and to execute averaging processing to the asset characteristic vector, the requirement characteristic vector and the characteristic region vector by an averaging processing part 7, and to calculate the inter-vector distances by adding the weight acquired from the weighted vector to the asset characteristic vector, the requirement characteristic vector and the characteristic region vector processed by the averaging processing part 7 by a distance calculation processing part 8, and to output asset as the shortest distance by successively comparing the distances calculated by the distance calculation part 8 by an asset selection result output part 9.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
