PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color converter, a color converting method, a color conversion program, a color conversion coefficient creating apparatus, a color conversion coefficient creating method, and a color conversion coefficient creation program by which color conversion can be performed while keeping main characteristics of a device even when characteristics of an input-side device or an output device are considerably changed, and similar color reproduction can be achieved in the output device even when the color reproduction area of the input-side device is considerably changed. PSOLUTION: A color converting method determination section 24 analyzes characteristics of the input-side device regarding color reproduction on the basis of an input profile stored in an input profile storage section 22, analyzes characteristics of the output-side device regarding color reproduction on the basis of an output profile stored in an output profile storage section 26, and determines a color conversion function for converting an input image signal into an output image signal on the basis of analysis results. A color gamut compressing section 14 converts the input image signal into the output image signal on the basis of the color conversion function determined by the color converting method determination section 24.
