NETWORK CONNECTING APPARATUS, NETWORK SYSTEM AND NETWORK CONNECTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more surely connect to a network by selecting a router function due to DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) connection more preferentially than a router function due to PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol Over Ethernet) connection in the user environment where the PPPoE connection and the DHCP connection are available.;SOLUTION: The network connecting apparatus discriminates whether or not an IP address can be acquired (step S1). When the IP address can be acquired, a packet transmission request is performed to a connection confirmation device connected to the Internet beforehand (step S3). When there is a response to the packet transmission request, the network connecting apparatus selects and operates a DHCP router function. When the IP address can not be acquired or when there is no response to the packet transmission request, on the other hand, the network connecting apparatus discriminates presence/absence of a PPPoE server (step S6). When a PADI packet is transmitted to the network and a PADO packet is received, the network connecting apparatus selects and operates a PPPoE router function.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
