PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning optical system having a high optical performance and is excellent against external disturbance. PSOLUTION: The scanning optical system 30 is provided with: a deflector 31 which deflects a laser luminous flux 60 from a light source 10; and a second focusing optical system 32 for focusing the laser luminous flux 60 deflected with the deflector 31 onto a face to be scanned 50. The second focusing optical system 32 has an optical function face 33a on which an optical function part 34 is formed by arranging projected parts 35 having a saw tooth cross section at least at a part of the optical function face. The optical function face 33a is so composed that the width WSB1/SBin the arrangement direction of the respective projected parts 35 is larger than the width WSB2/SBof the laser luminous flux 60 which is made incident to the optical function face 33a.
