PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive recorder that enables a simple and reliable determination of whether or not images have been tampered with such that captured images themselves can be used as evidence.;SOLUTION: The drive recorder comprises an imaging means 31 mounted on an automobile V, an acceleration sensor 32 and a position sensor 33 for detecting states of the automobile V, such as behavior, surroundings and operations, and a recording means 82 for associatively recording in a JPEG file at least compressed image data that is a lossy-compressed image captured by the imaging means 31 and a protection code for detecting manipulations of the compressed image data. A code of a predetermined size or larger constituting at least a part of the compressed image data is a check code, and at least a part of the state data output by the acceleration sensor 32 and position sensor 33 is a state code.
