PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cell which is a bacterium for directly converting ammonia as a substrate to a cell protein, and to provide the cell which proliferates even in a high salt concentration, an ammonia treatment agent comprising the cell as a constituent element, and a method for ammonia treatment. PSOLUTION: The microorganism assimilates ammonia in a salt concentration of 60 g/L and belongs to Salinivibrio costicola and is deposited as Salinivibrio costicola TOA1 FERM P-20904. Since the microorganism proliferates even in a high salt concentration, the microorganism has a little concern for admixture with various germs, proliferates only by carbon supply without requiring a nitrogen supply and treats ammonia.
