PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems of the conventional techniques for reducing power consumption, wherein the effect of reducing power consumption is small or an image on a screen is changed into an image that is completely different from the original image.;SOLUTION: When the same grayscale patterns appear, where the same grayscale values appear continuously both in the horizontal direction and in the vertical direction, only the grayscale value of a part of pixels, constituting the same grayscale patterns, is converted into a grayscale value that is smaller than the original grayscale value. More specifically, grayscale values in the pixels at one outer rim of the left side outer rim, of the right side outer rim, of the upper side outer rim and the lower side outer rim, constituting the same grayscale patterns, is converted into a grayscale value which is smaller than the original grayscale value.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
