PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a marine observation system which obtains a result obtained by observing a vertical structure of a marine phenomenon at a specified point for a long period of time at a real time by an inexpensive and simple method.;SOLUTION: One or a plurality of self-floating up type marine observation devices 2 provided with a self-floating up buoyancy part 4 and observing the marine phenomenon while floated up, are installed, and the respective self-floating up type marine observation devices 2 are separated off from the discharge device 1 landed on a sea bottom by own weight according to a predetermined schedule. Thereby, the marine phenomenon is observed by a sensor part 6 while self-floating up in the sea in a vertical direction respectively and is temporarily accumulated in a memory of an electronic circuit part 5. When they reach the sea surface, observation data accumulated in the memory are transmitted on radio by an aerial part 3. The observation data include at least one of depth, water temperature and salinity, or a plurality of them. When it is detected that an average value of the depth or the water temperature in every predetermined time is not varied during the predetermined number, it is determined that the self-floating up type marine observation devices 2 are floated up to the sea surface.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
