PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a conventional photocatalyst device is low in the contact area of an object and the photocatalyst and thereby low in light utilization efficiency. PSOLUTION: The photocatalyst device is equipped with a plurality of photocatalyst- supporting optical fibers, and comprises a plurality of photocatalyst-supporting optical fibers each of which comprises a core and a photocatalyst clad covering the core and containing the photocatalyst or, further containing an adsorbent, and a support member flocked with the photocatalyst-supporting optical fiber by an electrostatic flocking method or the like. A light condensing means may be provided to one ends of the photocatalyst-supporting optical fibers. An adhesive member may be interposed between the photocatalyst-supporting optical fibers and the support member. A light transmissible member is used as the support member and the side surface or the periphery thereof may be set to a light introducing part for introducing the light from a light source. The light source may be arranged in the vicinity of the light introducing part and may be arranged so as to be separated from the photocatalyst device by a light transmitting optical fiber. A conductive member may be interposed between the adhesive member and the support member. A through-hole permitting a fluid to pass may be provided to the support member.
