PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a binder useful for printing ink compositions which have an excellent ink-redissolving property and excellent adhesivity to various kinds of plastic films such as polyester, nylon, polyethylene and polypropylene films to be printed, even when applied to non-aromatic solvent type printing inks. SOLUTION: This binder for printing inks contains a polyurethane prepared from a polymer diol, a diisocyanate compound and an amine-based chain extender as main components. Therein, the polymer diol contains a polylactone-based diol having a (weight-average mol.wt./number-average mol.wt.) value of 1.1-1.6 as a component.
