PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer method to an objective operation method from a starting operation method of an Otto cycle engine having gasoline direct injection and variable valve operation, for further reducing fuel consumption and emission. PSOLUTION: This transfer method to the objective operation method from the starting operation method of the Otto cycle engine having the gasoline direct injection and the variable valve operation, is any of an external ignition operation method or a self-ignition operation method in the starting operation method and the objective operation method, and includes a method step of adapting an operation parameter of the starting operation method to a value required for the objective operation method in a pre-control process, a method step of switching the operation method after the pre-control process, and a method step of controlling the operation parameter after switching.
