PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a YC separation type video signal conversion device and a video display device, capable of displaying an optimum image in high contrast and with little flare.;SOLUTION: A PJ1 for RGB outputs an optical signal on the basis of three primary color signals of an image to be displayed from a signal processing apparatus 3 for the YC separation type display. A PJ2 for Y receives a brightness signal Y input from the above apparatus 3 and the three primary color signals F1(x) input from the PJ1 for RGB, and outputs an optical output F2(X, Y) obtained by remodulating an optical output proportional to the brightness signal Y by an optical input X(=F1(x)). The above apparatus 3 corrects the input three primary color signal x1 of the PJ1 to a 1st signal level expressed by (α/β)1/2× L1/2, and corrects the brightness signal to a 2nd signal level expressed by (β/α)1/2× L1/2 (where, α and β are flare components in optical outputs of the PJ1, 2).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
