PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for supplying electron donors to microorganisms which supply the electron donors throughout a nonporous membrane to enable the large scaling and thinning of a reactor, and to provide a method and device which can easily realize the supply of electron donors to microorganisms without using a pump, a controller etc. PSOLUTION: A volatile organic substance 3 which is an energy source of microorganisms, and functionates as an electron donor, and a liquid-permeable member 13 which allows permeation of the volatile organic substance 3 are housed in a container 4 with a sealed structure at least a part of which has a nonporous membrane 2. The volatile organic substance 3 permeates all the surface of the liquid-permeable member 13 is supplied throughout the nonporous membrane 2. The volatile organic substance 3 is supplied from the nonporous membrane 2 to microorganisms around the container 4 at a speed dominated by the molecular permeability of the nonporous membrane 2.
