PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a Group VIII metal complex catalyst improved in separability from a product after reaction, and to provide a method for manufacturing aldehydes by utilizing this catalyst.;SOLUTION: The Group VIII metal complex catalyst contains an organophosphorus-containing polymer, which is obtained by polymerizing vinyl pyrrolidone and an organophosphorus compound having a polymerizable functional group copolymerizable with the vinyl pyrrolidone, as a ligand and contains the Group VIII metal as a catalytic metal.
