PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for readily detecting a foreign substance contained in a raw material for ceramics without using a special analysis unit.;SOLUTION: This detection method comprises: preparing a formed article by a cast molding or the like using a ceramic base material slurry which contains, by composition ratio, 10 wt.% or more of a detected material for detecting the foreign substance in the raw material for the ceramics; glazing, on the surface of a tabular piece, a glaze for detection into which tin oxide containing chromic oxide is added as a pigment; firing at a temperature of 1,100-1,200°C; and then discriminating the existence of the foreign substance by the change of color on the glazed surface.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
