PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient and excellently operable backup/restoration management method between duplicated volumes. PSOLUTION: When paired volumes are used in separate applications, following steps are performed: a step for storing an address for updated data in the volume as position management information in a predetermined storage means for each pair, a step for acquiring updated position management information of each pair from the storage means when duplicated volumes constituting one pair are restored in contents of duplicated volumes of the other pair, a step for merging the obtained updated position management information for forming the differential information of the update position management information between the duplicated volumes, and a step for restoring the duplicated volumes in a restoration destination in the contents of the duplicated volumes in a restoration source by copying data designated by the differential information to the duplicated volumes in the restoration destination from those in the restoration source.
