PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the use of hyaluronic acid for ameliorating oxidation injury to chondrocytes and promoting hyperplasia of the chondrocytes, to provide the use of the hyaluronic acid having a molecular weight within the range of 600,000-1,200,000 Da for protecting the chondrocytes from the injury with active oxygen and promoting the hyperplasia of the chondrocytes and to further provide the use of the hyaluronic acid employed for producing medicines used for therapy or prophylaxis of arthritis and employed in an oral food or beverage provided for ameliorating symptoms of the arthritis.;SOLUTION: The use of the hyaluronic acid for ameliorating the oxidation injury to the chondrocytes caused by the active oxygen is provided.
