PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a microporous film separator for a capacitor, which is capable of reducing a load imposed on an environment by improving all the component materials of the film separator in recyclability, employs a volatile extraction solvent which is hardly discharged into the air, never causes damage to the ozonosphere even if it is discharged into the air, and hardly causes environmental contamination, such as atmospheric pollution, soil contamination and the like, and does no damage to the environment. PSOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the microporous film separator for a capacitor is carried out in such a manner wherein a composition composed of thermoplastic resin, an oil plasticizer having the flash point of 240C, and inorganic powder is melted, kneaded and molded into a sheet-like molded material, and some or all of the oil plasticizer is extracted and removed from the sheet-like molded material for the formation of the microporous film separator used for the capacitor. Materials formed of saturated hydrocarbons are used as the thermoplastic resin and the oil plasticizer, and the saturated hydrocarbon solvent having a flash point of 35C or above is used when the oil plasticizer is extracted and removed.
