PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method capable of detecting the whole part of a retrieval object in a short period of time without making it necessary to image any background image beforehand, and to provide an image processor using the image processing method. PSOLUTION: When a grey level image (input image A) imaged by a camera at a time tSBn/SBis inputted to an arithmetic processing part, the arithmetic processing part prepares a silhouette image by performing silhouette calculation S1 based on the input image A, and makes an image storage part store a created silhouette image B2. The image storage part is stored with silhouette images B1 and B0 created from the grey level image imaged at the last time(time tSBn-1/SB) and the second from last time(time tSBn-2/SB), and the arithmetic processing part performs calculation processing S2 based on those silhouette images B1 and B0, and creates an intermediate image D by extracting the common part of the silhouette images B1 and B0. Then, the arithmetic processing part performs calculation processing S3 based on a silhouette image B2 created this time and the intermediate image D, and extracts an image by excluding the intermediate image D from the silhouette image B2 created this time to obtain a retrieval image C including a retrieval object.
