PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tool made of a surface coated cemented carbide and a manufacturing method of it, having a hard coating layer exhibiting excellent wear resistance under high speed cutting condition.;SOLUTION: On the surface of a cemented carbide substrate, a hard coating layer formed of a oxynitride layer of Al, Ti and Si is physically deposited with the total average layer thickness of 1 to 15 μm, and the hard coating layer has a component concentration distribution structure in which the highest containing point of Al and oxygen and the highest containing point of Ti and nitrogen are alternately and repeatedly existent at predetermined intervals along the direction of layer thickness, and the containing ratio of Al and oxygen and the containing ratio of Ti and nitrogen are respectively continuously changed between both points. Further, the Al and oxygen have a specified highest containing point and the Ti and nitrogen have a specified highest point. The space between the adjacent highest containing point of the Al and oxygen and highest containing point of the Ti and nitrogen is made to be 0.01 to 0.1 μm.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
