PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrying method and a carrying device capable of carrying a flexible carried element in a flat state; and to provide a coating method for uniformly and stably coating a coating liquid on the flexible carried element as a flexible supporting element that is made to be flat, and a manufacturing method for manufacturing a coated article with uniform coating film thickness by the coating method.;SOLUTION: The carrying method and the carrying device generate creases 7 by deforming a web 1 in a width direction, and carry the web in the flat state by smoothing down and correcting the creases at a first guide roll 11 disposed on a downstream side.
