PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve high-speed and high-accuracy pattern recognition.;SOLUTION: A pattern recognition apparatus 1 is provided with a collation vector extracting part 823 for generating input collation vector comprising the prescribed number of components indicating a feature of an input pattern, wherein each component indicates "1" or "0"; a collation vector matching rate determining part 824 for calculating the matching rate, based on an inner product between each dictionary collation vector read out from a dictionary collation vector storing buffer 813 and an input collation vector; and a collation means for collating a dictionary feature vector, whose matching rate is calculated as a value larger than a prescribed threshold with the input collation vector, wherein a dictionary pattern that corresponds to the dictionary collation vector, determined as being a vector matching the input collation vector on the basis of the collation result, is read out from dictionary data 811 and is outputted.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
