PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean soil contaminated with an organochlorine compd. SOLUTION: A pit 2 is formed in an area contaminated with an organochlorine compd. by excavation and methane-dissolved water 1g is injected in the pit 2 and the organochlorine compd. is decomposed into carbon dioxide, water and chlorine ions by methane monoxigenase produced by methane metabolizing bacteria generally present in soil. the bottom part of the pit 2 can reach a water permeating layer 16 and methane-dissolved natural water can be also utilized as methane-dissolved water 1g. Soil contaminated with an organochlorine compd. can be also cleaned by charging this soil in methane-dissolved natural water.
