PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine capable of appropriately operating an intake means of air to which carbon is added and an intake means of air to which carbon is not added without a complex expensive control means. PSOLUTION: A cylinder 10 of the engine is provided with an intake valve 22 connected to an intake pipe 18 in which a fuel injection nozzle 26 is arranged, an intake valve 24 connected to an intake pipe 20, an exhaust valve 32 connected to an exhaust pipe 30. The exhaust valve 32 is controlled by a cam 40 mounted on an exhaust cam shaft 38 and the intake valve 22 is controlled via a valve lever 54 by a cam 60 mounted on the exhaust cam shaft 38. The intake valve 24 is controlled by a cam 48 mounted on another camshaft 46, and operates with or without accompanied by burned gas scavenging according to an operation condition of the engine.
