PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for optimizing energy consumption of a communication station in a wireless LAN or the like so as to be adaptive to actual data traffic of the station without requiring user's positive association.;SOLUTION: A communication station (STA) monitors traffic of downlink data to be received and traffic of uplink data to be transmitted during a certain specific time interval in a LAC layer and selects an adaptive power saving mode (PSM) on the basis of a ratio of the downlink data traffic and the uplink data traffic, or the traffic of the downlink data to be received during a certain specific time interval.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
